For Asian countries the nuclear Bomb is the only deterrent from the uninhibited and wanton meddling of American foreign policy at the barrel of the gun. Pakistan, India and China are prime examples of countries that acquired the Bomb and gained diplomatic prestige and respect from the USA. We are not sending a very good message to the rest of Asia and Iran.
For too long American foreign policy has NOT been in the best interest of its citizens or a true reflection of the great American spirit of equality and justice for all. Rather national security interest, lead by the CIA and other secret organizations, are dictating our foreign policy upon other countries. Most of these dealings and policies are stymied by the cold war paranoia battles that have disappeared from the new realities of a modern world but still shape and fashion institutions like the CIA.
How many dictators have these secret government institutions supported directly or otherwise only on the premise that the dictator was good for our national security regardless of the egregious excess of violence and corruption that they represented.
A very short List of dictators the CIA has supported in the name of protecting American citizens:
Shah of Iran
General Musharraf of Pakistan
Colonel Hugo Banzer of Bolivia
General Augusto Pinochet of Argentina
General Manuel Noriega of Panama
Fugencio Batista of Cuba
Trujillo of the Dominican Republic
The list is far longer than this but I became depressed after I read all of their despicable names.
