Abandoned homes

Per the New York Times, the town of Fort Myers Florida has taken it upon itself to maintain the properties of several hundred abandoned homes. As hard times are turning into desperation and fear, people are abandoning their homes at alarming numbers and my community is not immune to this growing problem. My next door neighbor appears to have abandoned his home for several months now and the front yard is littered with signs and notes on the door and several homes up the street, that have been on the market for close to a year, appear more abandoned than for sale.
Are you noticing more abandoned homes in your community? Sound off and let us know...

Billions for war

In yet another disgraceful insult to American citizens, our Emperor Bush, is threatening to veto funding for the US government highway trust fund, which helps fund highway projects across the country.
Per Republican John Mica of the House Transportation committee:

"Unless we act now, each state’s highway programs will experience severe disruptions and thousands
of highway projects may be delayed or canceled."

The failure to fund this program, $ 8 billion dollars for another year of operation, will result in thousands of lost jobs.

To put this in perspective our Regime spends $12 billion dollars a month on operations in Iraq, they paid KBR(a former Haliburton division) $20 billion for supporting our troops in Iraq, and Bush approved $200 billion for war spending in 2008. Yet we cannot fund road repairs or help rebuild the gulf coast because our government is busy funding Haliburton, destabilizing the middle east with wars and blindly sending billions to Israel.

We need Regime change today.

Hypocracy can be funny too

Are you patriotic enough?

As a veteran and a participant in the Iraqi War debacle, I am tired of the Republican Party selling itself as the Party of the patriots.
What is so patriotic about spending Billions of Dollars a month on military contractors while our gulf coast is still in need of help after Katrina?
What is patriotic about sending 1 Billion dollars to the country of Georgia, when so many here in America don't have health insurance?
What is patriotic about giving oil companies tax cuts and NOT supporting alternate energy technologies to make us independent of the middle east and their craziness?
What is patriotic about letting Bin Laden walk free in Pakistan?
What is patriotic about repressing our civil liberties through draconian legislation under the guise of fighting terrorism?
What is patriotic about lying to the American people about WMD's and Iran in order to create wars?
What is patriotic about putting the interest of Israel before the interest of our country?
What is patriotic about invading countries unilaterally without approval or support from Congress?

Abramoff sentenced to 4 years

The WashingtonPost reported that disgraced Republican Lobbyist Jack Abramoff was sentenced to 4 years in prison on various corruption charges that have implicated fellow Republicans such as Tom Delay. The story did not really divulge the full extent of the corruption or his links with the Bush Regime however we do have pictures of the two together and PBS published a video investigation into the stinking affair, which PBS host Bill Moyers calls the worst case since Watergate.
